1. Introduction
Welcome to pedigree.dev ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our online pedigree registry service ("Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Service.
2. Description of Service
Our Service provides breed associations ("Associations") with an online platform to manage pedigree records. Association members ("Users") can use the Service to register animals, track lineage, and perform other breed management tasks.
3. Eligibility
To use our Service, you must be:
- A representative of a participating breed association or an authorized member.
- At least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
- In compliance with these Terms and any applicable laws.
4. Account Registration
- Associations & Members may create accounts to manage breed-related data and/or participate in stock dog trials.
- Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts found in violation of these Terms.
5. Use of the Service
- The Service may only be used for lawful purposes related to pedigree tracking and breed registry management.
- Users shall not submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Unauthorized access or modification of another user's data is strictly prohibited.
- Users may only join and use the Service for its intended purpose. Use for reverse engineering, surveillance, or other activities not expressly specified above is strictly prohibited. Attempts to perform unauthorized harvesting of data, defraud users, registry integrity or theft of intellectual property will result in legal action.
6. Fees and Payments
- Associations may be subject to subscription fees or transaction-based charges for use of the Service.
- Payment terms, including invoicing and billing cycles, will be specified in separate agreements with Associations.
- Failure to make payments may result in suspension of use-privileges or termination of access.
7. Data Ownership and Privacy
- User Accounts are owned by us. We share the user account data to associations the user elects to be members of.
- Associations retain ownership of their registry data and grant us a limited license to collect, store and use it for providing the Service.
- By submitting data to the Service, Users grant us a dual license, allowing us to retain, analyze, market, and offer related services using the data while maintaining the Association's ownership rights.
- Non-public registry data will not be shared with other entities, except where compelled by law. Additionally, we will not use such data for any competing studbook, nor for any purpose that directly or indirectly undermines the interests of the association(s).
- Data related to pedigree and approvals is considered a public record for purposes of registry integrity and may not be deleted. Any non-registry data, such as addresses, names, and personally identifiable information (PII), will be deleted upon written request at the user's request of account termination. After deletion, accounts are not recoverable.
- We implement reasonable security measures to protect data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal data.
8. Intellectual Property
- We own all intellectual property rights related to the platform, including software, branding, and design. Association specific sites are skinned in the theme of the association's homepage. We use the association's branding with permission for the duration of our role as thier registrar.
- Users may not copy, distribute, or modify our intellectual property without prior written consent.
9. Dispute Resolution
- Any disputes arising from these Terms will first be attempted to be resolved amicably.
- If unresolved, disputes may be settled through arbitration or legal proceedings in [TBD Jurisdiction].
10. Limitations of Liability
- The Service may experience planned maintenance, updates, or unforeseen system outages. We are not liable for any delays or issues arising from service unavailability, and users are responsible for ensuring they complete any time-sensitive actions in advance.
- We provide the Service "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- We are not liable for errors, inaccuracies, or loss of data resulting from use of the Service.
- Our liability is limited to the amount paid by you to us for the Service in the previous 12 months.
11. Modifications to the Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time.
- Users will be notified of significant changes, and continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
12. Termination
- We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for violations of these Terms.
- Associations may terminate their agreements with us by providing written notice 60 days in advance, subject to any outstanding obligations.
- Account termination may result in difficulty or incapability for the terminated user to conduct registration or transfer of animals. Users are solely responsible for any consequences resulting from their violation of these Terms, and we bear no liability for any disruptions caused by account suspension or termination.

Welcome to pedigree.dev ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our online pedigree registry service ("Service"). By using our Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect various types of information to operate and improve our Service, including:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and other relevant details.
- Pedigree and Ownership Data: The DBA name (e.g., "Smith Farms") is retained as part of an animal's public record. This value is stored on the fields: Breeder, Current Owner, and Ownership History.
- Animal Identifiers: Animal identification details are retained and remain part of the public record for registry integrity.
- Personal Identifiable Information (PII): Registry PII is not visible to non-authenticated users, unless users opt-in, or specific member-association policies require public dissemination, made under a separate agreement during adding memberships for the respective associations. Users may control the level of PII they share with other members. Association & System Administrators have unrestricted visibility of user's information.
- Trial Data PII: First & Last names are publicly visible on trials, as well as scoring data for trials recorded on trials.pedigree.dev. Hosts publish contact information regarding thier trials. Address, Contact Information and preferred payment/refund data are shared between Hosts & Handlers.
- Transaction Data: If you purchase services, we collect payment details and related billing information.
- Technical Data: We collect IP addresses, device information, and usage analytics to improve security and functionality.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Service.
- To process registrations, transfers, and related transactions.
- To facilitate communication between users & associations as permitted by privacy settings.
- To send notifications, invoices, and other relevant communications.
- To analyze usage and improve our Service.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share certain data with trusted third-party service providers to facilitate registry functions, including:
- Breed Associations: Associations that users are members of are granted full access to all collected data for registry management purposes. These associations may have their own privacy policies governing how they use this data.
- Mailing Services: For printing and mailing invoices, registration papers, and other documents.
- Genomic Sequencing Providers: To process SNP and related genetic testing.
- Payment Processors: To handle secure transactions.
- Trial Hosts: To facilitate the coordination of handlers and hosts on stock trials.
- Data Hosting and Security Services: To ensure reliable operation of our platform.
- Location Data Sharing: Authenticated members may see non-identifiable locations (to zip-code resolution) of other members.
5. User Controls and Privacy Settings
- Users can configure their privacy settings to determine what PII is shared with other authenticated members.
- Users may update or request deletion of their non-registry personal information by contacting us, if terminating their account.
- Registry-related data such as breeder, owner history, and animal identifiers remain as part of the permanent public record to ensure pedigree integrity.
6. Data Security
- We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of stored or transmitted information.
- Passwords are securely hashed using industry-standard cryptographic techniques and are not viewable or recoverable by us. If a password is lost, users must reset it through the provided recovery mechanisms.
7. Data Retention
- Registry data is retained indefinitely as part of the public record.
- Personal account data is retained as long as the user maintains an active account.
- Users may request deletion of non-registry PII, after which their account cannot be recovered.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes, and continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
